Why On Earth is This Tolerated?

I have written much about bullying, but feel compelled to address what is turning into a severe problem nation wide.  A growing number of elderly and disabled people are being attacked. Why? Because criminals view them as easy targets. I don’t want to hear about teenagers making mistakes when I’m reading about elderly people having to have plastic surgery because their facial injuries so severe.

I don’t want to hear about how people make mistakes. To deliberately target those who are least able to help themselves, to me, is a hate crime. I don’t care what race the perpetrator is. I don’t care what race the victim is. Our elderly and disabled deserve better treatment than what is being given by our justice system, so HERE is what I propose:

I propose that anyone found guilty of assaulting an elderly and/or person with a disability which results in serious bodily harm should have to serve a 25 year sentence, flat-time and no parole, in a federal correctional facility.

There. You have my Monday rant. I am so sick of reading these stories, and many of these victims get critically injured.  This is some serious stuff people.  I personally think that 25 years flat time in GP is plenty of time to rethink one’s actions in a case like this.

I have an aunt who was murdered–after being severely beaten. So if you think I’m over-reacting, just pray this doesn’t happen in your family. Why is this even tolerated in this country? That is all I’m saying about this crap.

I Simply Cannot Buy Rolling Stone Magazine…

Since this came out, I have not been able to even bring myself to purchase that magazine.

Since this came out, I have not been able to even bring myself to buy that magazine.

Once upon a time, there was a wonderful magazine that gave us articles about music and the music world–along with artists that were engaging in worthwhile pursuits at times. Then one day, someone decided to throw the very things that those of us who came to that magazine wanted to get away from, which includes depressing news and politics, in our faces.  However a person in charge of this magazine decided it would be appropriate to put a young man’s face on the cover who was the epitome of everything that is wrong in this country.

“But what could possibly be wrong in this country?” some would think aloud.

“Complacency.” was the word that came to mind of others.

As a society, we have become far to complacent when it comes to what the media wants to subject us as an audience to.  If it were NEWS that would be one thing.  However in recent years, the media likes to bombard us with editorials. It gets really old. If I want someone’s opinion of what is going on in the world, I’ll simply ask them.  HOWEVER, when I want to know what is going on in this world, I only want the facts–and not their opinions of how they think these things should be or should not be.  Evidently the media no longer believes that we can make up our own minds on any issue,  so they try to tell us “how to think”…

We have also become far too complacent as a nation as to our own security.  Why do  I say that? Simple. Look around.  We’ve got teenagers going around targeting elderly people–especially if not of their own race, and yet no one DARES call that a hate crime IF the victim is white. IF the person who does it is white and the victim is black,  you can bet there will be serious jail time involved. This seriously leads me to question what truly is a hate crime if one group of  people who attack ANYONE due to race is not prosecuted while one person manages to get the collar… It is time to change that, people.  One form of racism does not justify another and if hate crime laws are not going to be equally prosecuted, they shouldn’t even be on the books. Justice is supposed to be blind–not subject to the whim of the US Attorney General or his boss. If one is really concerned about these young people getting hurt and killed for pulling such antics, then maybe the parents should step up to the plate and start monitoring who their kids are hanging out with again. Now back to my original topic…

Maybe IF this guy’s parents had done THAT much and kept their sons away from other radicals, they might not have ended up killing 4 people and wounding/maiming plenty of others. However, the mother isn’t too concerned about it given the clip below:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BqiinOlrc3o

Did you notice where he told her, “Don’t say anything.”  Why would he say that? That statement is out-of-place unless one is hiding something…Nice try. Russia even knew about her fanaticism. I think we know where these two men went wrong and it lies within their own mother. Sorry. She raised them to be as they are/were. She is more upset that they actually got caught in their own game, and if they had not done it, they wouldn’t have hijacked that Chinese boy’s car afterward to get away.  He will get the best defense on American soil money can buy. What I want to know is, who will hear the victims’ cries for justice as the blood calls out from their graves?

And this magazine seems to want to paint an empathetic picture of what is wrong with this guy, or am I mistaken? Sorry…I don’t buy into it and will no longer read Rolling Stone.

The New Mob…

Note: Most who know me know that politicians are the last people on Earth I would ever put my trust into. That is where this is coming from…

A mobster walks in to your business. “We can give you protection but you’ll need to pay us a certain fee for this protection.” “I don’t need or want what you have to offer. I can protect myself.”  you tell him. “You might want to reconsider that. Things can happen, yanno?”he says.

“I’ll take my chances.” you say to him.

Within two weeks he comes into your store, holds you at gun point and takes a third of your earnings for that day and tells you, “There is nothing you can do about this. You’ll pay it one way or another and we are coming once a pay period to collect. This is our neighborhood and we OWN the police.”

Then you are left struggling. “How can I pay the bills? The car payment? The vendors?” Your significant other is in tears and says, we should leave this place… What do you do? Leave or try to change it?

Think about this seriously for one moment.  It is your business and family being extorted…YES, EXTORTED. Now let us change-up the scenario a bit…

Let us look at our government officials.  They have taken upon themselves to pass into effect an extortion bill without the consent of the governed. By this I mean the Affordable Care Act.  The only ones who benefit from this are those who cannot or will not pay.  And those of us who obey the law, keep our jobs and DO pay are having to move out of our homes in West Texas. It is the working people like us–LIKE ME who have to live in an RV/Camper that my former boss owns because on what I make I cannot even rent an apartment. I could live in my car if something were to happen, but hopefully it won’t happen anytime soon.

Please don’t go into the supply vs. demand bullshit. There are two to three property management companies in town that handle ALL of the apartments here and they began gouging when they realized the boom was coming and it is happening EVERYWHERE in West Texas.  There are many families with $35K a year coming in that have to live in tents and storage rooms over this crap. Thanks to this, I can’t even save up the money to MOVE elsewhere. We are trapped in this area like slaves.  I actually think it was planned out to be this way too.

No American should have to live like this but this is our government at work in all of its infinite lack of wisdom. It is my opinion that they are trying to make everyone dependent upon it. They are creating the crisis to get us to cave into them. That is the last thing we should be doing. Why? They work for US. WE are not here to serve them and their lemmings and special interests. The two major parties are destroying the country and it is time we change direction totally. I will never vote for a candidate out of either major party again–unless they are Libertarian leaning. They lied to us all and failed us as a people.

And if we really wanted to send a strong message to them as a people, all everyone would have to do is pull together and pass a law that requires all citizens are to receive the same quality of care and help regardless of profession, sex, race, age, income etc with NO EXEMPTIONS–meaning our fearless government leaders (sarcasm intended) would have to be on the same program…  Pass a law like that and it  will over-ride this damned debacle they didn’t read in the first place. In fact, they should be fired and jailed for not reading it, subjecting US to it and EXEMPTING THEMSELVES from it.  NO OTHER COUNTRY does this to its people…

At least with a bill like I gave an example of, they CANNOT be exempt from it.  It would also make void direct IRS access to our bank accounts and leave decisions about medical care between doctor, patient and his/her family and not some idiot not qualified to practice medicine on the other end of a phone line.

When our founders wrote the Constitution, they did not intend to exempt themselves from the laws they passed. They did not set themselves up like a monarchy or oligarchy either. They did not believe in the principle of “diplomatic immunity” either. This country needs to change that as well.  We are the only country that allows this garbage to the best of my knowledge.

Anyway back to my original point. They are supposed to be working for US. Not passing laws over the will of the population and that is exactly what has happened. The only way to change this is to win elections locally first–right down to mayoral races and school board elections and work our way up from there. And I seriously hope that all of them who signed this into law get convicted of running the nation’s largest Ponzi scheme, which is exactly what this sham of a health care law is. By passing it, the government has made itself the new “mob”.

And before anyone starts bitching, I pay my share and always have. I grew up and had to work 2 jobs–sometimes 3 to survive. I should not have to do that again at my age and it really has me pissed off.  THAT is what both major parties have done for me. That is why I have never trusted politicians and never will–especially Dems and Repubs.   Don’t try to tell me the Dems are for the poor and working class either. After what they did to the unions, I know that is bullshit.  Don’t tell me the Repubs care about my values either.  If they did, the Sioux  would have been awarded the land stolen from them over time–when the descendants of the thieves that stole it, who are now on it (and controlling it) die off.

Either way, I am looking at 3rd party candidates for the most part in my state over this crap.

I Support The Texas Coalition to Abolish the Death Penalty

I know that with some  friends and family, this is not going to be a popular announcement, but I have decided to join the Texas Coalition to Abolish the Death Penalty.  Usually, I will write or talk about it but it’s time I took a public stand for what I feel is the right thing to do and blogging is simply not enough.

Furthermore, I support that every state that uses the death penalty should be required to add an option for juries to select the “life without the possibility of parole” option in all cases that capital punishment is sought by the Offices of the D.A.’s around the country.  This way if it is not going to go away, it will be assured that the death penalty will only be used in the most heinous of cases, and juries can issue verdicts they can sleep with at night.

This will also take away the political division on the issue somewhat since unless there is another United States Supreme Court ruling to the contrary, the death penalty is not going to vanish in all 50 states any time soon.  The politicians will no longer be able to say “I support Capital Punishment” to get elected in those states because they will still have it. It is the people that will limit its use with such a provision in the penal codes around the nation, and that is how it should be.

Only offering capital punishment or “life” leaves juries in a catch-22. If they don’t want to use that sentence but fear that the person could go free under current provisions for a “life” sentence (since it really doesn’t mean LIFE), they will use the death penalty. On the other hand, if given an option of issuing life without parole,  many will not vote for the death penalty–especially in some of these cases we’ve seen in Texas where much of the evidence used to convict is circumstantial.

Anyway that is all I have to say on this matter. Even  some of my family members do not agree with me on this, but that is fine. We all have to stand by our own convictions and my conscience will not allow me to remain silent any longer.  I have come to realize that taking a person’s life never eases the suffering of a family member of a murder victim. There is no closure.  Even if the killer of my aunt were caught tomorrow, it would not matter if they decided to execute him/her/them because it will never bring her back and it will not stop other murders from happening so NO, it is not a deterrent.  There was a time when it might have been but that has long since passed.

It is time to change things. Life without parole is a lot more difficult than the death penalty is for an offender. Their suffering ends but that of the survivors remains so yes I do know what I am talking about.  As for those who wish to flame me on the issue, when you go to work for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice as a qualified executioner–get back to me…80%  of those who join in on the mob mentality would never be able to take a life themselves. Anyway, that is all I have to say on this subject. Thank you for your time.

Here is the link to the coalition’s website if you’d like to check it out. They are also on Facebook. Have a great weekend.

Let It Be…Let It Be…Let It Be…Let It Be…There Will Be An Answer…Let It Be…

Unusual title isn’t it?   Very lovely and moving song the Beatles did back then…It comes to me now, bringing me a calm amidst what could become a storm in my city, county and for Texas before it is all said and done…

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RdopMqrftXs

It is a beautiful time to watch this flawed film, I think…It has places in it that aren’t perfect, but in this version there is a line that Sir Paul sings that states, “There will be no sorrow…” , yet for some family unknown at this time, there will be sorrow.   Like this particular video, life is not perfect, and it is not meant to be so…

This is the face of innocence...This is the face that demands justice--if it was her that was found this week...

Hailey Dunn went missing a long time ago.  Searchers tirelessly gave of their time to search for her. As time went on, things slowed down but this girl was never forgotten.  Whether it was her body found or not, we all need to keep one thing in mind. The body of that poor soul found this week is that of someone who is missing from his or her family’s dinner table.  He or she has not been at home to open Christmas presents, or to give family members a hug, and they haven’t heard that voice say “I love you” for some time.  That voice is now forever silenced.

Hopefully, for a family somewhere, the search will end…However the grief will begin, and if this body turns out to be that of Hailey Darlene Dunn, the whole state will be shattered–as well as the out of state volunteers that came to help search for her.   Once this body is buried with dignity, it is then the search for answers and for justice will begin.  Hopefully the voices of justice and compassion will rise to speak for this soul, whoever it may be.  Whoever this person is, he or she certainly did not deserve to be abandoned in such an area–alone.

Now that I have voiced my opinion, this song is once again reverberating in my mind but it is not the same tonight…”Our hearts are now in times of trouble, Mother Mary come to me, there will be an answer…Let it be…”

Goodnight everyone…Peace be to you all.
