Food for Thought: Don’t Go on YouTube if You’re a Dumb Twit!–Nana’s on a Roll!

Good morning everyone! Now that I have gotten your attention I want to say a few things before you view this video that Carly Taylor posted on YouTube.  First off, she is a con artist. Secondly, she is racist.   This video is  full of foul-language but I used it for a training tool.  I even called Dunkin’ Donuts corporate over this and demanded they do something about this woman because what she is doing in the process of breaking a few federal laws is scamming for a free meal.  I say she is scamming because she waited for the next shift to show up with a video camera to harass what appears to be a minor (Needi) at work.

Not only did she make terroristic threats toward the staff, she also videotaped customers and staff without getting a SIGNED release prior to posting to YouTube. If she has a business degree, as she claims, she truly needs a refund because she got short-changed and her lawyer (if she didn’t lie about having one) should be disbarred for not telling her to STHU and leave the video camera at home.  Anyone who appears on that video can sue her and that is one of the reasons Dunkin’ Donuts needs to file an injunction against her since she had no permission to be video taping in their establishment.  Most journalists won’t even do this crap unless they are investigating ILLEGAL activity in order to expose it.

She wouldn’t have lasted 20 seconds in my store. I promise you all that she would have been escorted out in handcuffs within 60 seconds.  This is what SHOULD have happened:

1. Management should have been present. If they were, it wasn’t indicated.

2. Management should have directed her and warned her that she would have to leave if she didn’t turn off the camera.

3. I would have stated on camera, you do not have permission to use my image or that of any other employee on any public forum. Please turn off the video camera and we will get your meal.

4. If she refused, I would not have spoken further given the fact that she was belligerent and making threats, I would have gotten her locked up.  As I said she violated several federal laws here–one of which was to make a terroristic threat toward staff and NO establishment should EVER tolerate such abuse.

5. Corporations need to give all staff training for these situations and the authority to take action when this is taking place in case management is occupied with vendors and such.  The remedy for such issues should not be limited solely to management staff. Any employee should be able to kick such people out of the establishment. It is common sense.

Here is the link to the video (Warning: Again, this video does contain foul-language!) :

If there is one thing Nana hates, it is racism. If Needi (the employee threatened) was a minor, I hope her parents also filed charges.  To me Ms. Chapman is nothing more than a con artist trying to get her 15 minutes of fame, but if you read the comments under her video, it obviously backfired on her, and rightfully so.

Here is another link about this to look at.  It’s a pretty good article too for coming from “The Smoking Gun”…

I was so angry when I saw this that I used this video to train staff on how to handle this situation.

Nana’s Top Songs About Being “Broken”:

Sometimes songs depict various situations in life, or at least the emotions behind them.  Some are by artists of faith and others are not.  I know a lot of “broken” spirits right now. Some have lost partners. Some lost children. Some lost jobs and their homes, etc…Some lost their childhood. These are the top songs for various situations that can leave one “broken”.  Some are going to be more familiar than others–and some are a tribute to those who love the broken just as they are–or those who know they will find their way…And I threw one on here for those who are hypocritical enough to judge the broken, yet have never walked in their shoes. Enjoy–and grab your Kleenex if you are broken…At least you will know you are not alone.

The Strangest Thing About Facebook is it’s Infinite Stupidity

This could be such a short post, but it may not end up being so.  I’ll just free-type and see where the road leads…I don’t even know why I came up with this title…It’s kind of stupid because to me, Facebook itself is a “social” network that really isn’t that social. While it can be a useful tool to network with, I find it ironic that many members end up penalized for actually “networking”.

You know what I”m referring to–that phenomenon that many subscribers on Facebook call “Facebook Jail!”  That’s right. It works this way…FACEBOOK will suggest people to you that you  may or MAY NOT  know personally so that you can send friend requests to them. However, if you do that, they can suspend your account and penalize you for each time they think you make friends with someone you don’t know. Ironically there are ways around this. Make sure they email you if you are networking with each other for a few days before requesting them to be friends.  THOSE particular emails are enough to shoot down their accusations.

First off, I feel that Facebook (Are you paying attention Mr. Zuckerberg?) needs to get a life and new employees.  Many accounts are suspended in error, or people get suspended for actually making friends with FAMILY members and co-workers! I’m serious!  They also force changes upon subscribers that they detest without giving options to not use these so-called improvements, the latest of which is a feature they forced upon everyone called “timeline” which is a complete pain in the ass.

Personally, I cannot wait for a new social network to come into play to give them some competition.  When that happens, people will flock to it in droves–especially if that particular competing network respects the privacy of its clients.  Of course there are those die-hard fanatics of the Facebook status quo that say, “It’s free and you get what you pay for!” and they are absolutely right because they get nothing from it except a false sense of satisfaction from sitting behind the computer and constantly posting about crap that means absolutely NOTHING to anyone besides themselves…Yes, one can see a lot of people like that–and there are also those who are seriously using it as a tool  to market themselves, or they are trying to make the world a better place.  However, I see more trolls as of late…They simply like to read their posts,  the contents of which are equal to bovine fecal matter of the male variety. Whoever guesses what that is gets 3 brownie points in Tina‘s “Book of the Asinine”.

I would do a book of “Fear and Loathing” but Christopher Pennock does a better job of that than I ever could. I strongly urge you to check his readings on YouTube.  They are freaking hilarious.  They should get him on “Saturday Night Live!” Here’s a link to part 1:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p2A07KmUp2c

I would like to add here that the funniest are parts 3 and 4!!!  After you listen to that, go like his fan page! He’s working again and he deserves the support.   HERE is the link for that but just so you know, most people know him as Jeb Hawkes from the original “Dark Shadows” series:   https://www.facebook.com/pages/Christopher-Pennock/202548139768998   While there, you will find that he is about to work on a film called “Posey” with Sally Kirkland. Check that project out!

That being said, I am moving into a new house and taking up my Insanity workout program again.  I’ll get the body I want in 6 weeks time and only spend time on FB to do admin duties and promote those people whose work I believe in.  Most of the people I know personally, I socialize with right here in my community or via email.  IF one can’t find me there or via my cell phone–I am most likely on my mountain enjoying my fellowship with my surroundings.  Why? Because I am really tired of the crap Facebook does that I mentioned above, and Chris Pennock: I hope you keep giving ’em enough hell for us both!

All that I Am–Still Unbroken

Today I found a plastic bowl that one of my boys stained up by using it in the microwave oven…They used something with tomato in it because I could tell by the stain.  I started to throw the thing away, but couldn’t make myself do it.  It elicited a train of though from me that I haven’t had in a long time.

People are quick to toss out things they view as “useless”.  This includes people.  People who may have had things happen to them.  Most know my story so I won’t repeat it, but sharing it has cost me a great deal. People assume that girls who go through what I endured are “damaged” and they want nothing to do with the issue .  There are those who simply wish I wouldn’t talk about it because it disturbs their comfort zone.

Oh well, so be it.  The fact of the matter is that I have decided that I have endured much of the abuse I suffered as a child because some other kid might not have survived it long enough to tell the tale.  If telling my tale helps one child, then the critics and naysayers can all quite frankly kiss my ass.

This “damaged” vessel tells kids that they should never be afraid to keep telling someone until they are listened to.  Period!

I have ended relationships because I could tell that the man I was with had a problem with how I deal with my own issues. Most of them didn’t want to “share me” anymore. They began to isolate me from family and friends and I know exactly what that leads to because my own abusers did the same thing to me as a child–so yes, I know the warning signs and I don’t fall for those lines any longer.

On the other hand, I know that one day another person will cross into my path that will realize that the person I am today is in spite of what happened to me–not because of what happened.  I could have done a 180 and became a totally cruel, sardonic bitch, but I didn’t. I did become a realist.  When a person takes the time to accept me as I am, he will have my heart–and not a minute sooner. He will encourage rather than abase me.  He will lift me up rather than knock me down emotionally.  And he will work alongside me rather than try to constantly control me.  He will let me fly rather than try to put me in his cage. In short, he won’t try to turn me into a creature that I can never be–and I will  return to him that kindness.

By the way, I didn’t toss the bowl since it will come in handy–and besides, it’s less crap for the landfill.  One of these days people will learn that ceramic bowls may break, but they are easier to clean. Once broken, you have to toss them.

That being said, here is one of the most beautiful rock ballads I’ve heard in years.  Johnny Rzeznik (of the Goo Goo Dolls) knows how to craft a lyric…I think it proper to close with this.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZcTnu3AWk7Q&feature=related

I will never be broken.

Signing Off for Now…

I am going through a period of self-reflection at this moment.  It is something that I must do on my own.  I will still passionately speak out against school bullying and such and continue posting the “Centuries Under the Moon” blogs as requested.  However, I will not be socializing much as of late. I will not be traveling much until the weather is warmer.

I suppose that I feel bad because I am so blunt when I post things.  I cannot lie and I have to post what I honestly feel at the time my fingers go nuts over the keyboard. Evidently some people that I hang out with have decided that they cannot handle my opinion of life which is this:  It is what you make it.  Your decisions will land you either in a hotbed of bull or they will enable you to grow and branch out.  Those who stand by me will see this, but those who choose not to do so should at least do me the courtesy of telling me what their issue is and we can try to resolve it, or they will find themselves by the wayside in my life.

Once again I have cut three friends off who were very close to me because I overheard them saying things to others that should have been addressed with me.  At least I gave them the courtesy of telling them face to face.  NO, I wasn’t mean about it.  I just said that right now I feel like I’m related to Job and he had three good friends didn’t he? Then again, Job’s three good friends DID tell him what they thought face to face–probably because they felt enough love for the man to express their thoughts–even if they were wrong–if they existed at all, that is–so believe what you will.

I accept people as they are.  I don’t try to change them. To me that is the greatest gift one can give to a friend because it is an unconditional form of love.  A part of me loves to make people laugh. I love it when some people make me think–as Lauren Cross has done more than once.  I also love it when people have enough respect to speak their minds.

As for my writing, I free-write.  I speak my mind.  When it comes to mind, and it isn’t spoken, it will pour out through my pen, or the keyboard.  Writing was the only refuge I had growing up.  I used it to take care of business–whether it be creating characters to kill off that reminded me of the bullies I dealt with, or to try to put something positive to reach others–like the writing and the anti-bullying blogs are meant to do.  I will make a video for YouTube very soon as far as the bullying issue.  I had one completed and the bloody computer crashed and wiped out my media.

As I have said before to others, it is better to be proactive than reactive.  Either act or don’t complain about those that are doing nothing because they became complacent with the status-quo.  If you are not part of a solution, you are part of a problem. Period.  We have enough problems in this country to clean up without looking into any other country’s back yard–seriously.

As for the economy, I only have a little sliver–it’s called a paycheck.  I work my fanny off and live from paycheck to paycheck right now because I choose to.  I could go back into corrections–but why do that when working in that field almost turned me into a witch from hell riding a broom with a hemi attached to it?  Seriously. It took a while for me to get back to something close to normal again.

Quite frankly, I would be just peachy if good ol’ Uncle Sam would quit trying to take more of my sliver of the cake (Ben Cross brought this to mind when he made a post over the holidays about the “Fat Cats” paying their fair share…)  When I say sliver, I am talking about making less than $25K a year.  I manage–period.  I may not be among the Hollywood élite, but I am quite content with my little sliver.  That brings me to my next point.  I didn’t understand what the Occupy Movements were about FULLY until a good person named Christopher Pennock took the time and had the patience to point a few things out on his own FB page.  He’s a pretty cool guy…He played Jeb Hawkes on the original Dark Shadows series when I was a kid. Check out both Ben’s and Christopher’s page…Then go check out George Takei‘s page on FB…Now Mr. Takei will blow your mind with his humor, that’s for sure! He makes great points with it.

I will add this about Christopher Pennock though, while there are times he does get upset and go off a bit, he is honest and straight up.  I respect him for that.  Now if my friends I cut off were half the person with grace that he is, they would still be in my social circle. Sad thing is, I’ve known them for years.  This man is 68-years-old, and took rubber bullets and tear gas to fight for what he believes in during these protests. I admire that.  I don’t know of any other actor that braved it lately and he’s had a hip replacement!  Any of you who stand by the protesters should drop in on his page and give him some encouragement.

These protesters are not just out there to protest about the Wall St. “Fat Cats” as they are labelled.  They are also protesting corruption in the government–that government that wants to take more from those that only have a little sliver–no pensions, etc…while the “Fat Cats” still have loopholes. If this offends my friends who have known me for over 25 years that are IN the GOP and I am NOT–sorry it bothers you. It doesn’t bother me.  I have to stand where my conscience can be clear. At least I won’t lose sleep over it.

I also am wondering about this other dilemma I am going through…It is in the form of the question, “Why is it that nobody can ever be content with what they have?”  The Sheryl Crow song says it best, “…It’s not having what you want–It’s wanting what you’ve got.”  from Soak Up the Sun. I am asking that about our government right  now.  They always want more and the people get less. At least that is how it looks from this working class woman’s perspective.

I do not trust politicians regardless of party.  To me it comes down to this formula:  Honest + Politician = Oxymoron .  First you have the “Tea Party” in the GOP…If they take charge, I’m not so sure that they will “turn back the clock” as much as they would STOP the damned thing altogether.  Then you have the far left–which wants to roll out people like biscuit dough and make them all perfect–“one size fits all citizens” of whatever they want to call this nation, order, etc…  Free thinkers will suffer under the absolute rule of either one.  It is as if George Carlin had a point when he said that “The politicians are only there to make you think you have a choice”.   Do we really?  I wonder.

I am certain of one thing. Either party will use the artists and dreamers to their advantage and then toss them by the wayside when finished.  I do not trust them.  Indie is the way to go whether one is a musician or in film, I think. Why?  Those guys are more in tune with the desires of an audience than those with major recording labels and those in Hollywood are.  To me, to not go Indie is too much of a gamble.  Ask any musician who had to let someone else have rights to their music for 30 years…Some retirement plan, right?   I agree that scripts are probably better in the Indie market for the actors and such, too.

Anyway, if you think I’m off base here, then please feel free to tell me. It doesn’t bother me.  All of my life I will be learning and you may be the one to help me make more sense of all this crap going on that we call “life”…Know what I mean?  Feel free to send me a message on FB or email me if you like.  I’ll get to it as soon as I return from my cave.  Tune in whenever…Same bat time…Same bat channel…I’m riding off on the broom now! Goodnight…I close with 4 great links here:

I Am One Pissed Off Mom! CHILD ABUSE SHOULD NEVER, EVER BE TOLERATED!

Before reading this, I need to forewarn you that what you are about to watch is CHILD ABUSE.  This is a form of bullying I endured at home, but I knew the difference between a spanking and a beating.  My dad “spanked” me.  My stepmother would beat me by throwing me into walls and cabinets and such–literally…She picked me up off of the ground and threw me around.  This video rivets me to the core.  The language this man used with this child took me back to my own stepmother’s abuse.   The beating (and yes it is a beating) was totally uncalled for.

As a sergeant in a correctional facility, I saw men in that unit who did serious time for this kind of shit and this guy is a judge?! C’mon! People need to quit defending  Neanderthals like this! He is an animal!  I am brutal and to the point when I make these statements, but I was totally incensed at the cruelty of this man. If he has any minor children left at home, I hope to hell Child Protective Services (CPS) takes steps to protect them.  This was assault and battery of a child–pure and simple. Unfortunately, if this video is 7 years old, they can’t charge him for this beating, but if there are younger children around him, CPS can still investigate–and they should.

IF I were this young woman, this bastard would not come within 2 feet of any child of mine–I promise you that much.  If he did it to her, he’d do it to them.  If you don’t want to watch the video, I’ll understand, but please take my word for it–this guy is so full of bullshit that if he ever got locked up on a charge like that, he would spend his entire time in protective custody for what is on this video.  It is disturbing.

A Friend to the End…

This is a story that will make a dog lover cry.  Dogs have feelings and souls.  Often they are the most loyal of companions.  They love us even when we get cranky and often protect us as if they are themselves angelic.  I was deeply touched by the story I read on the link below and the photo of the dog, Hawkeye.  Hawkeye is a black labrador retriever who walked up to the casket of his owner, a fallen Navy Seal named Jon Tumilson of San Diego, CA.  He walked up the aisle to the casket and laid down after a heavy sigh as 1500 mourners watched.

There is no other bond like that of a dog and his or her master, and the mourners followed Hawkeye as he walked up the aisle to the casket.  While this dog will be cared for by a good friend, I want to take the time to remind people that many Native Americans refer to people as “dog people” for a reason.  They also call birds “bird people” at times, etc…  Nobody will ever convince me that these animals have no feelings, emotions or souls.  I was faced with a decision about my 13-year-old dog named Buddy earlier this year.   He had contracted heart worms.  He is better now.  They went ahead and gave him one more set of shots today and will do blood work in two weeks to make sure they are ALL gone.  They are HARD to get rid of.  People, take care of your pets–one mosquito bite is all it takes to make your dog very ill.

However when I say this dog is a family member, I mean it. I would sleep in my car before giving Buddy up and now my whole family is aware of this fact.  He is a very intelligent and well-behaved animal. I look into those eyes and see just how much trust and love he has for us in them and that is what matters the most.  I am sure that Hawkeye had that type of bond with his master too. I also watch Buddy around other people.  I know who to steer clear from as he has a keen sense of who is a decent person and who is not.

I also know that my bond with this dog is such that when he does pass over, I will not have another dog.  No other animal can replace this one in my life.   He loves taking walks with me and spending quality time with us all.   He even sits and watches TV with us and such.  What is funny is when he tries to carry a conversation.  I’ll tape that and put it on YouTube!   At the end of a day, he is always sleeping beside my bed, too.

http://www.wreg.com/news/kswb-dog-mourns-fallen-seal,0,7804662.story

I hope this story in the link touches your heart as it did mine.

So now you are dead to me…

You may be breathing, but you are dead to me.  Every lie that you sold makes me very afraid to open my heart, even though it is closed to you for good.  I worked my way through the muck and lies and got to the point to where I am somewhat content with my life, yet your ghost seems to be talking through some of the people I meet.  I hear the hooks you threw out when asked certain questions.  I can now see that like you, some of them are looking for an arrangement.  I don’t play that game anymore.  I really don’t need to be in a “relationship” to validate who the hell I am.  I don’t need a “security blanket” either.

As a result, life is good.  I rose from the ashes to discover my own way of expression.  As the blood runs hot in my veins and through to my pen, I have also found that I need nothing–not money–not power–nothing.  It all goes back to one song by Duran Duran.  “…Freedom puts my faith in none of the above…”

Have a nice life.  I truly hope that you are blessed.  I know that I am truly blessed now that you are only a dark page in a dark chapter of my personal History.  Right now I am content to stay on the page I am on.  It is blank and waiting for me to fill it. It will be filled–on my own terms and in my own way.  Goodbye to you…

With that, I close with this…I’d love to re-make this with an all female band–speeding up the rhythm and totally rocking this song out to the max!  This song just totally kicks ass.  There is also much truth in it, whereas I have yet to discover the truth in your lies…That being said, I am changing the phone number.  I don’t want to hear any more from our “mutual” friends who are also looking for an arrangement now that they know that I have kicked your ass to the curb.   That makes them pretty low on my priority list if you ask me.  After all, if they were YOUR friends, they wouldn’t be trying to put the make on me  knowing my sentiment on the matter, right?  Then again, the fact that they are YOUR friends only tells me that it doesn’t speak much to their character…Sorry but it’s true.

This is sort of like a divorce–only you can have the friends and line of work we were in. I want no part of it ever again.  I want no part of you either. Why? I had to lose myself in order to find myself again.  Once I did that, I realized that I didn’t need you and I certainly don’t need to “fit in” anywhere any longer. I call my shots and I admit my mistakes.  There is freedom in that also–but you will never know it because your whole life has always been nothing but one lie after another.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BP4GQPbn4Aw

I have a whole new attitude. For once it is MY life–and I’ll do whatever I damned well please with it.  I know that just kills you since you’ve got some of your friends “spying” on me again.

I originally wrote this in 201o.
